Los Niños de Tulum Aprenden la Escritura Maya

El verano está sobre nosotros y nos encontramos en la temporada de graduaciones y el final del año docente. Ha sido un semestre muy ocupado para muchos de nosotros, incluidos nuestros colegas mayas, que han estado trabajando arduamente enseñando la escritura maya a sus estudiantes.

 Este mes, recibimos noticias de Gloria Nayeli Tun Tuz, quien trabajó con 20 estudiantes de primaria, de 8 a 10 años, de la escuela primaria Ignacio Zaragoza en la comunidad de Macario Gómez, ubicada entre los sitios antiguos de Tulum y Cobá en Quintana Roo, México.

Informe del taller de glifos MAM:

Reporte del taller de jeroglifos con niños de la primaria Ignacio Zaragoza, en la comunidad de Macario Gómez, Tulum, Quintana Roo.

 En este taller que fue impartido en la comunidad ya mencionada fue interesante ver la participación de los niños de segundo grado de primaria. A pesar de su corta edad se les fue facilitando comprender como está conformado los jeroglifos, y como se utiliza, ya que gracias al apoyo de un proyector que prestamos en las instalaciones del plantel, pude proyectar el archivo y que todos puedan ver al mismo tiempo lo que se les estaba explicando y todos visualizaban al mismo tiempo. Que de esa manera fue más fácil su comprensión.

 que realizamos, que al principio, buscando algunas consonantes que no están en el silabario,
y sobre todo sorprendidos, porque con dibujos
pudieron escribir.

The Children of Tulum Learn the Maya Script

The Summer is upon us, and we find ourselves in the season of graduations and the end of the teaching year. It has been a busy semester for many of us, including our Maya colleagues, who have been hard at work teaching the Maya script to their students.

This month, we hear back from Gloria Nayeli Tun Tuz who worked with 20 grade school students, ages 8-10, from the Ignacio Zaragoza Primary School in the community of Macario Gómez, located in between the ancient sites of Tulum and Cobá in Quintana Roo, Mexico.

MAM Glyph Workshop Report:

Report of the hieroglyph workshop with children from the Ignacio Zaragoza primary school, in the community of Macario Gómez, Tulum Quintana Roo.

In this workshop that was taught in the aforementioned community, it was interesting to see the participation of the second grade primary school children. Despite their young age, it became easier for them to understand how the hieroglyphs are made up, and how they are used. Thanks to the support of a projector that we lent to the campus facilities, I was able to project the images so that everyone could see them at the same time what was being explained to them and they all were able to visualize them at the same time. That way it was easier to understand.
