Happy Gregorian New Year to everyone! I recently returned from a trip to Guatemala, where I was able to have a productive meeting with Juan Rodrigo Guarchaj and Ajpub Pablo Garcia Ixmata to help plan for the upcoming Fourth International Congreso this July. Following this, I traveled to Belize, where I led a student trip that included facilitating a workshop with Ernesto and Aurora Saqui and Manuel Bolon for 28 participants in Maya Centre in the Stann Creek District.
I had met Ernesto and Aurora on two previous student trips that I co-led in Belize in 2003 and 2004, and it was a great honor to work with them again at the beautiful grounds of their Nuuk Che’il Cottages where they hosted our one-day workshop under a large, thatched meeting hall on January 7th. After meeting Manuel Bolon at the Third International Congreso in 2016, Manuel invited me to come to Belize to help with hieroglyphic instruction, since some time had passed since 2013, when our former president, Bruce Love, facilitated workshop with Ernesto Saqui in Toledo.

¡Feliz año nuevo gregoriano para todos! Hace poco volví de un viaje a Guatemala, donde pude tener una reunión productiva con Juan Rodrigo Guarchaj y Ajpub Pablo Garcia Ixmata para ayudar a planificar el próximo Cuarto Congreso Internacional en julio. Después de esto, viajé a Belice, donde dirigí un viaje estudiantil que incluyó la facilitación de un taller con Ernesto y Aurora Saqui y Manuel Bolon para 28 participantes en Maya Centre en el Distrito de Stann Creek.
Conocí a Ernesto y Aurora en dos viajes estudiantiles anteriores que codirigí en Belice en 2003 y 2004, y fue un gran honor volver a trabajar con ellos en los bellos terrenos de sus cabañas Nuuk Che’il, donde alojaron a nuestro taller bajo una gran sala de reuniones con techo de paja el 7 de enero. Después de conocer a Manuel Bolón en el Tercer Congreso Internacional en 2016, Manuel me invitó a venir a Belice para ayudar con la instrucción jeroglífica, ya que había pasado cierto tiempo desde 2013, cuando nuestro ex presidente, Bruce Love, facilitó el taller con Ernesto Saqui en Toledo.
